Dream Farmhouse Living Room

I often let my imagination flow as I give way to my creative side, and my brain can feel like it's on overload!  There are so many unique elements that make up a home, from sleeping spaces, to a stylish yet practical kitchen, and then there is the living room.  That warm, cozy space where families gather together.

I know for me personally, having a comfortable living room is important.  And at the same time, as someone who is artistic and design driven, I see my home as a fresh canvas awaiting a calming color palette, and rich with details that speak to me.

To bring all of my ideas together, I decided to create a design board, using a collection of furniture and home decor items from Arhaus.  They have a huge selection of styles ranging from rustic to modern, and I had a pretty easy time finding pieces that would flow with the Clean Modern Farmhouse vibe I was going for.

I started with selecting my sofa.  The sofa is most often the focal point in a living room, so I went with a nice neutral colored sectional and started to design around that.  The Lansbury Sectional in Gunsmoke was the perfect selection for me.  My second piece that I am head over heals for is their Rio Upholstered Chair in Lagoon!  Yes please!  Added to my wish list!
After the two main seating items were picked out, I began to add several other rustic pieces I was drooling over.  Layering rugs, I added a gorgeous cow hide atop a hand knotted area rug in Grey and Ivory.  And I find the rustic cart coffee table super cool with the rusty metal wheels and natural distressed wood.

I'm a sucker for shiplap, like many others whom adore the classic farmhouse look.  Its a quick and pretty simple way to add farmhouse character to any house!  Check out a previous post here from my living room reveal to see how my husband and I added bookcases and shiplap to bring a farmhouse look to our ranch style house.

I love pairing a collection of vintage white pitchers I've picked up over the years.  Sea-glass green bottles, galvanized steel, and wicker baskets are also part of my dream living room!  And let's not ignore that rustic Antler Chandelier from Restoration Hardware.  I feel like that ties in perfectly with the cow hide rug.

My dream farmhouse living room would include natural wide planked oak hardwood floors, and creamy white paint and builtin cabinetry, beams, a stone/river rock fireplace.. all warm and inviting.  My walls would be dressed in large gorgeous farmhouse windows, allowing the sunlight to flood in.  I love creating environments that connect the indoor and outdoor living spaces together.

All of these pieces work beautifully together.  I have included a link to the numbered items on my board!  You can find the furniture I selected at Arhaus, along with many other options to create your own dream living room!  To view more living room inspiration, check out Arhaus Living Room and start planning your dream room today!

What would be on your top ten list when creating your own dream living room?  I would love to hear and see your ideas!  Don't want to miss out?  Enter your email and subscribe for all of the latest posts and ideas!

French Country Farmhouse Table and Decor

Today I'm sharing my latest restored farm table set, along with all the little French Country tableware's and decor. I don't know about you, but by January 1st, I'm ready for spring and summer!  I'm just a sunshine weather kind of girl.  The cold, dark winter days are just not on my favorite things list. ;)  But don't worry, I do realize I have a few more months of winter!

I wanted to give this farm table a rich country look, so I stained the top in one of my favorite chocolatey browns, called Provincial. (by Minwax).  I actually gave the top two coats of stain for a deeper, darker color.  I finished the top of the table and the benches with a wipe on Polyurethane.  The base of the table, benches, and the chairs are painted in the usual color of my choice, Vintage by Valspar.  I pick this up at Lowes.  It's just the perfect creamy white paint color.

I built two of my custom Vintage Benches to go with the table.  If you ask me, a farmhouse table always has to have at least one bench! :)

With all of this cold and dreary weather, I decided to brighten things up a bit at my shop.  I wanted a lot of white of course, and just enough blue!

Below, I used an old tin bucket to hold some greenery and vintage utensils.  I stencil painted a blue farm cow on the front, and then drilled two holes on each side so I could add the rope handles.  I love this little bucket now!

When rummaging through things at a vintage shop last week, I found this really neat little fruit crate.  Table Grapes of California. It has warm wood tones, and BLUE writing!  Perfect for my table scape!  This crate was actually the inspiration for the whole look.  I found two of these, so I decided to keep one for myself :)

When creating a display at the shop, I try to build up as much as possible to create height and more display space.  So I built this mini farmhouse bench using scrap wood from my workshop, and finished it to match the table.  I think it turned out adorable and I'm definitely going to be making more of these.  I may try all sorts of fun colors too.

I threw in a few copper accents and these really cool French canisters with copper lids.  These are some of my favorites!  And then there are the white canisters with the black label writing on them.  This set is available in my Etsy Shop.

I came across a couple of cute wooden chairs this past week as well.  One I left the original stained color, and the other I painted in a vintage creamy white and distressed it.  I threw in some blue and white ticking stripe, and whatever dishes I could find with that gorgeous blue patina.

And then there is the burlap table runner with the blue farmhouse cow.  I am in love with this runner!  I will definitely be making more of these and listing them in my Etsy Shop as well.  If this is something you're interested in ordering ahead of time, feel free to contact me via email!

And what's a French Country table scape without a little white cow creamer?  I just LOVE these cow creamers.  I get all giddy when I come across one!

The bowl tucked under the rest that has the sweet blue flowers on it is from France.. Just love it!

So there you have it.  My French Country Farmhouse table and decor.  I'm in love, and I hope you had fun looking at my gallery of pictures!  There were a lot!  Have a wonderful rest of your weekend and a great week!  Thank you as always for stopping by!

OUR CHRISTMAS LIVING ROOM

Well here we are a few days after Christmas already!  I have been so busy this Holiday Season, I found no time to do my Christmas post!  So I thought I would share our Christmas living room, now that we are all probably worn out by all the Christmas posts! haha

I sewed these cute plaid pillow covers.. I used material from a table cloth I found at Marshall's.

For anyone that really knows me, it might come as a shock to see a buck hanging above my mantel.  But this year, I wanted to create a cozy chateau look and feel.  My husband thought I was teasing him when I asked him to bring the deer in from the garage.  Let's just say he was more than thrilled when he realized I wasn't! ;)  Our furry friend who joined us for Christmas this year is named "Steven".  My hubby named him years ago and our kids think his name is the funniest thing ever!  I simply draped him with one of my red scarves to give him that Christmas spirit.

I used vintage finds on the shelves.  An old lantern, cast iron fan, vintage metal buckets.. old books..

I found this really neat candelabra at a thrift store!  I thought it looked very French Chateau.

I love this red and white plaid throw.  It's actually a blanket scarf from Old Navy!  I guess those can be very versatile ;)

I also kept the deer silhouette pillow I made out for Christmas as it went perfectly with the theme.

This year our Christmas Tree displayed all of our family ornaments.  It's always so special every year to hang all the sweet handmade ornaments that the kids have made.  My husband and I have our own ornaments from childhood as well and I love to put those up.  Our theme this year was The Family Tree.  I layered in a pretty red and white plaid ribbon to give it that cozy country cabin look.

This year, my mother in law bought each of our girls their own Christmas Tree for their room.  My youngest daughter, Olivia, chose a really beautiful white one.. We had fun decorating them.

My oldest daughter, Isabella, Chose this sparkly green one.  The trees added a bit of Christmas magic to their room this year.  I know it will be a great new tradition to get them out each year and decorate them.

Well, that's it for our Christmas decor this year.  I hope each of you had a wonderful Christmas holiday with your families and all have an amazing New Year!

Our Thanksgiving Table & a Piece of My Heart

I set the table the night before Thanksgiving, trying to get a head start on everything.  Hosting three years in a row now, I try to simplify each year.  However, I never can seem to do that.  Do any of you have this problem?

I struggle with perfectionism, and hosting Holiday events is when I really see my issue exposed.  I want everything to be perfect, everyone to have the BEST time, and take an amazing experience with them as they leave my home.

Funny thing is.. nothing ever goes as expected. {according to my expectations} I made some cute little "I'm Thankful For" sheets that everyone was supposed to fill out.. I had intended to read some scripture as well, all relating to Gratitude and Thankfulness.  But we read no scripture, and nothing was filled out.  Did this wreck the evening?  Was Thanksgiving a total bomb?  Haha, no, it was not!  It just didn't go according to plan.  I do think it would have been lovely to go around the table and express what we were thankful for.  But we all had a great Thanksgiving, and everyone got along great.

Do any of you who blog struggle with wanting everything, all the time, to be gorgeous and pin-worthy picture perfect?  Well, I do.  And sometimes I feel like it robs the moment.  Not that there is anything wrong with being creative and loving to see and share beautiful things.  It's all about perspective for me.  It's something I'm working on within myself.

This year, I am thankful.  I'm thankful for a family who shows me unconditional love and patience.  A family who brings me laughter and joy.  I'm thankful that I'm learning about myself and though change can be hard and takes a lot of work, it's worth it.

I truly hope you all had a lovely time celebrating Thanksgiving with your families and friends.  We are all blessed.

"give thanks in all circumstances; for this is God's will for you in Christ Jesus." 1 Thessalonians 5:18
