Antique Primitive Hutch

Well hello friends!  Holy cow it has been a busy week!  With school starting for my girls this past Tuesday, and extra grocery shopping now that we are back to packing lunches, it has me a bit frazzled!  But if any of you know me personally, my life is quite frazzled ninety percent of the time!  I do it to myself honestly.  Are any of you huge {procrastinators}?  Well, the sickness doesn't get any worse than the case I have.  I wait, and wait, and wait.... still waiting.. :)... until the very last minute to complete a project, or turn in paper work, or pay a bill, make a phone call!  The list goes on!  Some of my family members have actually said that they think I thrive on my own procrastination!  Ha!  Like it's a rush that I crave!  See?  I have a bad bad case!  So there is my admission for the day!

I am excited to share this adorable antique primitive hutch with you today!  I took a bunch of pictures for you..   I just took it to my shop a couple days ago, and since it's almost fall, I thought I would stage it accordingly.  Enjoy!

I ruffed this piece up a bit and changed out the hardware.. Someone had put some shiny chrome knobs on.  What? :)  I just love the rustic simplicity of this cabinet.  No crown, no feet, just the hutch.  It's beautiful, and creamy, and RUSTIC!  Perfect for a farmhouse!  Well, thank you for stopping by!  I hope you enjoyed my hutch gallery parade!  Have a fabulous and blessed day!

Farmhouse Table & a Fall DIY Sneak Peak!!

Hi Friends!  I hope you've all enjoyed your summer and are looking forward to fall..

It hurts me to say that Summer is almost over!  But to be honest, it almost hurts me more to say that I'm excited for Fall!  I love the crisp cool air of early fall, the quiet mornings to myself when my girls go back to school, the organized schedule, MORE SLEEP!  Cozy holidays, good food!  Are you with me on this or what?!  But when the long winter lingers too long, I want nothing more than a year round summer.. Guess we can't always have our cake and eat it too right?

Okay, moving onto the new Farmhouse Table Set!

I've worked with similar tables to this one, and I always love how they turn out.  They are solid wood, have beautiful turned post legs, just an overall great piece to work with.

The legs and skirt are painted in a cream color I picked up at Lowes by Valspar.  It's called Vintage.  I love this color!  It's the perfect creamy white color.  I distressed the whole table with the sander, random screws, the hammer.. it was very therapeutic :)  The top is stained in a chocolatey honey/brown color that will warm up any room!  It kills me to say that it took 4 times of sanding, and three different stain colors before I finally got it right.  Does that ever happen to you?  It's so frustrating and very time consuming, however, I still wouldn't trade my job for another...

 I built this bench out of scrap wood in my garage.. I followed a plan from Anna Whites website, with my own modifications added to it. {Please excuse the poor quality of this photograph}

With Fall quickly on its way, I am starting to get my Autumn Decor going, and I have been making these Fall Floral Arrangements.  I'm going to do a DIY here soon, but wanted to share a sneak peak with ya!  So come back and check out the future post!

I hope you are all prepared for school, cooler weather, and the holidays!  It seems like the second we hit September, we're celebrating Thanksgiving!!  Take care everyone and I hope you'll visit again soon!

Lemonade and Sweet Treats Stand

Lemonade anyone?  I just finished restoring this old antique tea cart to a new and freshened up Lemonade Stand!  And I LOVE the way it turned out!  But don't let my love for it fool you into thinking it was an easy ride to achieve!  What I thought was going to be a three to four hour restore, ended up taking twelve!!  That's right!  Twelve hours! :-/  Nine alone was spent trying to remove the paint from all the crevices and turned post legs.  But this was the first project I ever took on for someone else, so I have some experience behind me now for future projects!

So lets take a look at this gorgeous Lemonade and Sweet Treats Stand!

My client picked out a color called Weathered Glass.  She wanted a nice stain on top in the darker hue.  So I started with my rusted vinegar stain, but it wasn't dark enough and didn't have the warm red hues to it, so I ended up applying a Min-wax brand in Mahogany.  It turned out perfect!

Here is the before picture of the tea cart.  It had a layer of primer and red gloss paint, and as you can see, it was peeling and falling off.

Here I'm applying the first coat of the vinegar rust stain.

And our finished product!  I am in love with this cute little stand now!  Talk about turning trash into treasure.  And I'm so happy I was able to restore a family heirloom into something the my client and her family can use in their everyday life.

As always, Thank you for taking the time to visit me here and I hope you've been inspired!  Have a blessed week everyone!
